Job Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY:The Senior Accountant maintains accounting
policies, practices and procedures for Aspirus, Inc. (Aspirus) and
its subsidiaries. Works as an advisor and consultant in reviewing
policies and financial activities to develop and recommend future
policies and practices for Aspirus, its subsidiaries and affiliated
organizations, ensuring compliance with the appropriate mission
statement(s).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Patient Experience
- Identifies opportunities to improve patient experience.
Participates in projects/programs designed to enhance service
delivery and patient satisfaction.
Patient/Staff/Environmental Safety
- Identifies opportunities to improve the Environment of Care,
and patient and staff safety. Participates in projects and programs
designed to create a safe environment to avoid error.
Job Specific Duties
- Analyzes financial activities and recommends future policies
and plans to the Director of Fiscal Services, Vice President of
Finance, Chief Financial Officer and administration based on
interpretation and judgment of financial data and other statistical
information.
- Maintains accounting policies, practices and procedures.
Installs and maintains new or modified accounting systems.
- Coordinates activities concerning financial matters, general
accounting, accounts payable, financial and statistical reports,
cost and reimbursement, and property accounting.
- Participates in the preparation of the financial statements,
reports and statistical analysis.
- Administers effective internal controls and functional audit
trails.
- Reviews audit findings with public accountants and federal,
state and local internal auditors. Assists in initiating
appropriate action based on audit reports.
- Coordinates and controls the cash and investment activities for
assigned entities.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual operating and capital
budgets.
- Leads the development, configuration, and maintenance of the
accounting data systems for Aspirus Inc., and its affiliates.
- Acts as system resource for development of accounting policies
and procedures.
- Coordinates and ensures accuracy for related party transactions
and entries.
- Is responsible for effective internal control and functional
audit trails for classifying and accounting for fixed assets and
major movable equipment of Aspirus and its subsidiaries.
- Works extended hours to attend meetings and meet
deadlines.
- Performs work that is subject to interruptions and time
pressures.
- Provides technical advice and guidance on financial matters to
the Fiscal Services staff on issues of reporting, cost allocation
and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Serves as a financial consultant to directors and other
department or program managers within Aspirus and its
subsidiaries.
- Researches various tax and financial issues as they present and
implements system or procedural modifications relating to the
financial matters within Aspirus and its subsidiaries.
- Works independently on projects related to new service or
program development. Creates business plans or other financial
justification as required and recommends courses of
action.Department Specific Accountabilities
- Maintains department specific accountabilities as determined,
maintained, and housed within each unit's Scope of Service.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Education
- Knowledge of accounting standards and practices normally
acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting,
Finance or related area.Experience
- Minimum of three years' financial management experience,
preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Previous supervisory experience beneficial.Other
- CPA status beneficial.
Annual Competencies
- Annual competencies as required by Aspirus and/or various
regulatory agencies based on entity and/or job position.
