Job Description:
Drexel Building Supply, a leader in building solutions, seeks an
experienced Lumber and Structural Estimator to join our Engineering
& Architecture Department. This role is vital for maintaining the
accuracy and competitiveness of our project costing by providing
detailed material estimates and structural insights for both
residential and commercial projects. The perfect candidate will
thrive in a dynamic environment, demonstrating precision and
reliability in their work, and contributing to the success of our
various construction ventures. Analyze blueprints and other project
plans to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Assess
cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking
actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. Consult with
clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and
formulate estimates and resolve issues. Prepare estimates for use
in selecting vendors or subcontractors and in negotiating
contracts. Conduct special studies to develop and establish
standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more
cost-effective to produce or purchase components. Proficiency in
estimation software such as Planswift, Bluebeam, or similar. Strong
understanding of construction processes and materials. Excellent
mathematical skills and attention to detail. Ability to read and
interpret architectural drawings and blueprints. Strong
communication and negotiation skills. Capable of handling multiple
projects simultaneously with precision. Medical Insurance Dental
Insurance Vision Insurance 401k Certified Professional Estimator
(CPE) or equivalent preferred. Additional certification in
Autodesk, Revit, or other related software is a plus.
