Tranportation Strategic Account Manager

Job Description:

Primary Job Accountabilities: - Customer Relationship: Responsible for strategic cross-customer collaboration, optimizing delivery methodologies, securing and negotiating freight capacity, identifying cost savings opportunities, and enhancing logistics systems capabilities. (Consistent and professional communications; effective, prompt and courteous communications with respect to difficult situations, scope change management, etc.) - Active development, distribution and customer alignment of implementation metrics that highlight both financial and service value. Work closely with Lanehub customers to ensure that our team understands and executes in a manner that supports and enables the customer's strategic directions. - Expertise in transportation procurement, and truckload capacity planning to engineer and position solutions for both prospects and existing customers. - Development (Learn Operations use of the system and identify opportunities for improvement) Essential Functions and Tasks: - Assist with the setup of Operational processes and procedures to support new customers - o Will require deep operational subject matter expertise across multiple modes, various networks and order types, etc. - Effectively work with assigned project team to develop full understanding of customer's current methods of operations - Effectively work with assigned project team to develop, test and deploy designed work processes - Effectively work with customer to fully understand technical requirements - Act as advisor to Operations and Customer in area of continuous improvement / needed services/best practices - Demonstrate ability to proactively identify issues, propose and implement solutions - Work closely with customer to ensure Transplace understands and executes in a manner that supports and enables the customer's strategic directions - Ability to positively respond to and interact with other company personnel, customers, and vendors in daily operations Knowledge and Expertise: - Solution Engineering (A thorough and practical understanding of how software applications, modules, features, and functionality are implemented to satisfy the needs of a customer.) - Transplace Domain Knowledge (A thorough and practical understanding of the Transplace Development Process and Guidelines, the various application environments and their purposes, and an understanding of the business domain for which our products are targeted.) - TMS (Knowledge of Transplace applications and how they work together) - Industry Expertise (Transportation industry knowledge, including key terminology; and, general knowledge of primary customer industries; Knowledge of mode-centric elements by customer industry) - Transplace Expertise (Understand and know the Mission, Values and Goals, organizational structure, company history, how we function internally, administration, best practices, processes, behavior, the complete Transplace order-to-cash, etc.) - Knowledge of Microsoft Tools (Ability to leverage Excel and other MS programs, including Word, Outlook, Lync, PowerPoint, Visio etc.) - Deep Knowledge of the Customer's Business (Knowledge and understanding of the customer product, ability to flowchart the customer's basic supply chain, speak the customer's language and understand the customer's key service measures, etc.) - Geographical Expertise (Geographical understanding of the continental US and Canada. Understanding of mileage as it relates to the passage of time, including DOT & Speed governance), Including Transit time difference based on mode Competencies: - Adaptability/Flexibility (Adapts to changes in the work environment to meet demands. Manages competing demands. Accepts criticism and feedback. Manages difficult situations objectively and rationally.) - Communication Skills (Ability to consistently demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with customers, colleagues, subordinates, and supervisors in professional and constructive manner.) - Coordination & Collaboration (Ability to work together with internal and external contacts to link the responsibilities and actions of others and attain concord.) - Decision-Making (The ability to make sound, consistent, informed decisions regarding how to proceed in any conceivable situation.) - Problem solving (The ability to decompose a problem into manageable components, apply good judgment and decision making in approaches to solving the problem, consider alternate outcomes, responsibilities, and circumstances, and propose viable and effective solutions to overcome the problem. - Resourceful (Able to apply innovative and practical approaches to translating requirements into implementations.) - Sense of Urgency (Possesses the attitude and determination to stay focused on results and deadlines until the task or project is completed.) - Time management, organizational skills (Handles multiple tasks simultaneously. Prioritizes and organizes assignments to make efficient use of time with significant attention to detail.) - Troubleshooting (The ability to calmly and effectively review and identify circumstances and evidence of a problem, apply sound troubleshooting practices to diagnose to the root cause of the problem.) Skills: - Knowledge of basic project management principles - Advanced Transportation Knowledge - Detail Oriented - Excellent Customer Service Skills - Demonstrated interpersonal skills dealing with diverse work groups, vendors and customers - Coaching and mentoring - Advanced written, oral and presentation skills - Relationship management - Team building - Negotiation Skills - Advanced functions of MS Office products including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio Education: College Degree required
