Job Description:

Position Purpose:The Auto Service Manager is responsible for providing superior service to our customers and for leading the auto service sales and technician team.Essential Job FunctionsThe incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilitieswith or without a reasonable accommodation.1. Assist customers with questions and handle customer issues.2. Establish a working knowledge of Fleet Farm's entire line of tires, parts and accessories3. Promote and sell automotive products and services that meet customer needs4. Develop service estimates by costing materials, supplies and labor, and calculating customer's payment5. Perform basic maintenance and tire specialist duties such as changing oil, checking fluids, installing batteries, mounting and balancing tires, wheel alignment checks6. Coach and mentor sales and technician Team Members to ensure acceptable levels of performance are being met7. Train Team Members on products, sales techniques, and store procedures8. Create store schedules for auto service sales and technician Team Members9. Assist with recruiting efforts10. Provide store leadership with sales and payroll budget reports11. Educate Team Members on sales and department goals, and motivate Team Members to obtain or surpass these goals12. Managing auto center profitability by monitoring and controlling payroll and controllable expensesOther Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform other duties as assigned or required.Nature of Supervision:Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision. Minimal guidance and direction may be provided occasionally, but incumbent is responsible for the development, budgeting, growth, and profitability of their department.Supervisory Responsibility:Directly manage auto service sales and technician Team Members to include hiring, training, assignment delegation, performance evaluation, corrective action, and termination of employment when necessary. Depending on store location, this team will consist of 5-12 Team Members.Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Automotive, Management or related field. Will accept relevant experience in lieu of formal education
  • 3+ years of retail management experience preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Must have strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with all levels of Team MembersCompetencies:

    • Approachability - Is easy to approach and talk to; spends the extra effort to put others at ease; can be warm, pleasant and gracious; is sensitive to and patient with interpersonal anxieties of others; builds rapport well; is a good listener; is an early knower, getting informal and incomplete information in time to do something about it.
