Provide compliance strategy to a team responsible for overseeing the compliance programs for multiple insurance companies within the American Family Direct organization. This position will take a leading role in the corporate and operational compliance program(s) and in developing a coordinated and cohesive approach to operational compliance across multiple lines of insurance, different underwriting companies, operating systems, and various locations across the country. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing substantive legal advice to internal clients in a wide variety of legal areas.Job Description:As the Sr. Director - Compliance, you will provide compliance strategy to a team responsible for overseeing the compliance programs for multiple insurance companies within the American Family Direct organization. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing substantive legal advice to internal clients in a wide variety of legal areasPrimary Accountabilities

  • Lead a team that provides compliance and regulatory support for complex strategic regulatory and business processes. Provide leadership to direct reports, including coaching, development, and performance management, to enable them to execute the strategy.
  • Review and evaluate corporate and operational compliance programs within the direct channel, identifying risks and developing operational compliance processes across emerging lines of business.
  • Monitor, measure and report on compliance program effectiveness and trends.
  • Advocate before state Departments of Insurance and other regulatory agencies as needed to facilitate business initiatives while meeting legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Insurance regulatory requirements for homeowners, personal auto and commercial lines of business.
  • Develop and implement strategies in partnership with the business to meet compliance objectives.Specialized Knowledge & Skill Requirements
    • Juris Doctor required
    • 10+ years of related experience in insurance compliance.
    • Highly organized, with an aptitude for critical thinking and problem resolution.
    • An inherent desire to embrace change and to pursue continuous improvement.
    • Ability to build partnerships with business contacts at all levels throughout the Enterprise.
    • Outstanding communication skills; verbal and written.
    • Excellent business acumen and judgment, including ability to place legal risk in proper business context.
    • Effective leadership skills and the ability to coach others.
    • Strong knowledge of general federal, state, self-regulatory organizations rules, regulations, and industry practices of specific function.
