Job Description:
Sentry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced technical
leader to ensure timely and equitable resolution of claims and
managing Sentry's growth objectives. As the Director - Claims
Technical, you'll effectively oversee operations to ensure the
delivery of quality and consistent claims practices and direction.

This role will work out of our Stevens Point, WI office.What You'll
Do:As the Director-Claims Technical, you'll have the opportunity to
establish a solid foundation with Sentry assure our competitiveness
within the insurance industry by performing the following:
- Oversees the application and development of unit practices and
procedures. Proactively assesses issues and oversees process
improvements ensuring the establishment of best practices,
policies, procedures and systems that enhance productivity,
positively impact the business and comply with internal and
external requirements.
- Manages the Claims Audit & Compliance department. Develops and
maintains access to quality defense panel firms, sets guidelines
for reporting and billing and assures proper audit and compliance
through Legal Audit services.
- Participate in the development of new insurance products and
coverage changes
- Develop and execute strategic plans and objectives aligning
with current and future needs
- Collaborate with Claims and business leadership members on
business unit decisions and operations
- Provide technical oversight on severe and complex claims
- Evaluate and resolve claims against the company and serve as a
corporate witness in litigation
- Deliver administration of human resource-related activities,
and ensure adherence to human resource policies and practices
- Develops claims standards and policies regarding reserving and
settlement authorization and assigns authorization limits for both
claims management and associates. Provide recommendations to senior
leadership on claims authority grids and any exceptions to the
grid.
- Coordinates and executes the due diligence activity and process
as to claims operations, compliance, and expertise related to
merger or acquisition of accounts and/or companies.
- Works with other functional units in the area of risk
evaluation for the purpose of considering retention, pricing and/or
selling of self-insured claim services, and participates in
drafting Claims Service contracts.
- Remains aware of industry trends and legislative developments
to assure compliance and competitiveness within the insurance
industry and responsiveness to customer needs.What it Takes:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of related experience with claims operations, best
practices, and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of litigation strategies and technical expertise in
multiple lines of coverage and policies is required
- Successful management and leadership experience in a claims
operation
- Strong organizational, human relations, communication, and
presentation skills
- Ability to travel without significant notice as required by the
