Job Description:
Position Summary: - -
The Teen Center Director is primarily responsible for leadership
and management of the Teen Center: The Club with the primary
concern for programs and service delivery; facilities and budget
management; staff development; supervision and training of assigned
staff and program volunteers; assists with the community and public
relations, membership growth and administration. - Manage the
coordination of club-related events; manage the safe and routine
use of the facilities and evaluate club member/parent relationship
performance.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience
- At least 2 years of experience in youth development
programming
- Ability to communicate effectively with teens from diverse
backgrounds as well as a range of other organizational personnel in
a courteous and professional manner
- Experience coaching or managing others
- Ability to provide leadership and manage projects
- Ability to plan, organize and work collaboratively with other
teams
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop
relationships with staff, Club members, and their family
members
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral
forms
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word,
PowerPoint, and Excel
- Flexibility to work hours that vary daily and throughout the
year
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Active environment that requires the employee alert for several
hours at a time
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced and noisy
environment
- Some lifting and moving of moderately sized objects
- Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a
vehicle
Site Leadership & Management
- Provide overall leadership for teen programming with guidance
from the Director of Operations
- Establishes effective and trusting relationships with school
personnel, teens, parents and community partners to improve the
delivery of BGC programs and recruit teens
- Develops a variety of recruitment techniques to achieve
membership goals including school visits, business membership
drives, special events, etc.
- Works with Director of Operations to monitor program and staff
expenses to ensure they are within budget projections
- Ensures that the Club environment provides recognition and
opportunities for teens and staff
- Develops ongoing recruiting, training, and professional
development of staff to support overall program operations
- Completes time reporting for payroll and maintains reporting
accuracy
- Supports fellow staff in meeting program goals, objectives, and
outcomes
Program Development & Implementation
- Program Participation, membership and attendance tracking is
always kept up to date
- Ensures that the Club site is offering quality teen development
programs from each of our core program areas that are fun,
educational, and enriching
- Engages in a continuous quality improvement plan for teen
programming
- Programs are modified and enhanced to accommodate and attract
all teens
- When responsible, grant and program reports are completed in an
accurate and timely fashion -
- Works collaboratively with other professional staff to enhance
teen programs and provide a wide offering of diverse programs in
the Teen Center -
Public Relations & Marketing
- Pursues effective collaborative partnership with other
agencies, schools, businesses, etc to increase the number of teens
being served
- Supports and is involved in organization-wide special events
and fundraisers efforts
- Works with other professional staff to utilize the Club website
and other marketing strategies to build awareness of club programs
and to recruit and retain teens
- Ensures that seasonal program newsletters are out on a timely
basis
- Is involved in community groups, committees, service
organizations that provide networking opportunities which in turn
provide personal and professional development while also benefiting
the Club
Professionalism
- Works with Director of Operations to set program and
professional development goals within clearly defined and
measurable program outcome/objectives
- Arrive on time according to the staff schedule and prepared to
work
- Projects an image of professionalism based on dress and
appearance
- Always carry themselves in and out of the Club as a role model
while also providing guidance to Club members
- Report any employee misconduct to the Director &/or
Executive Director immediately
- Be in consistent communication with supervisor, staff, school
personnel and other key individuals
