UP Health System - Marquette

Responds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined -necessary. Safely navigates ambulance to patient's location. Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional -assistance as necessary. Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources. Administers -emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, -from the scene to receiving medical facility. Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician -or Registered Nurse. Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Education
Successfully completed MDHHS approved Paramedic course required

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Licenses
Paramedic license required

Valid Michigan driver's license required

Certifications
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) required

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred

Trauma Course (ITLS or PHTLS) preferred

Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) preferred

Approved Driving Training Program
Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), VFIS Driver Training, or equivalent required

*(within 1 year hire/transfer)
Minimum Work Experience
6 months field experience in EMS preferred
