the LPN, RN, or nurse leader, the Patient Care Tech (PCT) performs
patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care activities to meet
the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. Through
collaborative practice with all members of the care team, is
responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high quality of care
provided by ThedaCare. Contributes to the goals of the department
by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate, safe care
and demonstrated commitment to continuous growth and professional
development.Job Description:KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Performs delegated
patient care activities using evidence-based practice and specific
competencies for the patient population served Checks patients'
vital signs, height, and weight, as needed, based on patient type
Provides compassionate care and listens to patients' concerns and
guides them by answering any questions or concerns Identifies and
escalates changes in patient status or patient risks to prevent
crisis Collects clinical data and information on patients and
reports to care team Repositions, transfers, ambulates and
transports patients Assists patients with basic needs (such as
hygiene, eating, using the restroom, and dressing) Obtains and
reports patient intake and output Performs electrocardiograms
(ECGs) as directed Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection
Provides care that is age appropriate, culturally specific, and
developmentally appropriate in an environment that promotes patient
safety Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with
patients, families, team members, and providersQUALIFICATIONS:High
school diploma or GED requiredPrevious healthcare experience
preferredAmerican Heart Association HealthCare Provider Life
Support (BLS)PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to move freely (standing,
stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a
maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistanceJob classification
is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while
performing job dutiesManual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to
perform patient care proceduresWORK ENVIRONMENT:Frequent exposure
to sharp objects and instrumentsOccasional exposure to moving
mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic
chemicals, and risk of electrical shockOccasional high noise level
in work environmentStanding and/or walking for extended periods of
timeTransporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or
equipment from one location to another; little likelihood for
injury if proper body mechanics and procedures are followedPossible
exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and
pharmacological agentsOccasional contact with aggressive and or
combative patientsJOB SCHEDULE:Possibility for straight nights or
mornings. Weekend rotation is a must with shift differential.
Shifts can be either 8 or 12 hours. There is flexibility with
school schedules. Position requires compliance with department
