Position Summary

Perform all duties necessary to the efficient operation of all equipment in the plant. Operate and maintain plant equipment in accordance with standard work and building procedures.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Monitor and follow all safety preventative measures and practices, including 5S+ safety guidelines 2. Must be capable of following and meeting standard work requirements 3. Must be able to use computer programs to assist in recording data, making labels, printing tooling layouts, obtaining prints and specifications, printing ship-sets, etc. 4. Promote positive teamwork 5. Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Continue to keep current in skills through training, classes and on the job training 2. Must be capable of operating several machines after set-ups have been completed 3. Perform all quality checks to include SPC, visual and total dimensional conformance 4. Must be capable of doing minor tooling and set-ups under the direction of a Set-up Operate or leader 5. Be accountable for process evaluation, measurement, documentation, and improvement on a continuous basis 6. Must have the ability to operate a bar marker, fork lift, chunking saw, an overhead bridge crane (for loading and unloading trucks), along with locating and disbursing raw materials to machines 7. Must be capable of identifying various grades and sizes of raw material (bar stock and tubing) 8. Be able to verify weight of brass, which may involve the use of a scale 9. Must work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. 10. Must notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities, which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk, and report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately 11. Actively participate in department and process team activities and projects 12. Other duties may be assigned at a later time


Education required: 1. High School diploma or GED 2. Training in Advanced Machine trades or equivalent experience Experience: 1. Previous manufacturing experience preferred Preferred Skills/ Qualifications: 1. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills 2. Sound decision making skills 3. Good math, reading and writing skills 4. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual and audio attention Skills/ Competencies: 1. Basic computer skills 2. Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks 3. Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail 4. Must be able to read blueprints 5. Must be proficient in using precision measuring equipment, such as a micrometer, caliper, threading gauges, and protractor Physical Requirements: 1. Exert 31 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 2. Exert 11 to 30 pounds of force frequently 3. Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects 4. Must have no previous skin conditions, such as dermatitis, as skin will be exposed to oil and cleaners Other Skills: 1. Ability to work well in a team environment Assessment: 1. Employee must successfully complete Pre-employment screening 2. Successfully complete Machine Aptitude test
