Summary of position/Objective:
The Human Service Supervisor provides services to individuals with
developmental disabilities, brain injuries and/or mental illness
who live independently in community settings.
The Human Service Supervisor will manage all aspects related to the
ongoing implementation of the Human Service Program. This includes
but is not limited to the oversight of member daily care, employee
training and development, quality assurance for all support
paperwork and documentation to remain compliant with standards set
by Iowa Code, Social Security Administration, Managed Care
Organizations, Iowa Medicaid Enterprises, and To The Rescue
Policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Adheres to and upholds To The Rescues values and

- Always represents To The Rescue in a positive and professional
manner to all members, co-workers, interdisciplinary teams, and the
general public
- Honors all aspects of the Member Rights and adheres to all
policies of confidentiality
- Manages day-to-day activities of each member assigned to the
caseload to maintains and ensures that all supports for essential
life services are met
- Provides leadership to ensure the health and safety of members
by monitoring activities, supervising, and intervening in crisis
situations
- Provides support to members to ensure that they are
participating in safe activities within their community and their
home as supported by the member plan
- Monitors member performance on goals and reports successes and
areas for improvement to the interdisciplinary team
- Completes all member medical appointments to ensure advocacy
for mental and medical health needs
- Provides medication oversight for each member and provides
follow up for employees as it relates to medication administration
compliance
- Provides transportation within the community setting to each
member to access resources and maintain ongoing supports and goal
development
- Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with
all individuals included in each members interdisciplinary team.
This can include, but is not limited to case managers, care
coordinators, natural supports, medical providers, family members,
friends, and others identified by each member.
- Maintains at least 30 hours weekly of direct billable
services
- Administrative time is allocated to support employee
development, employee monthly scheduling/ongoing scheduling needs,
daily timesheet approvals/meet weekly payroll deadlines, medication
compliance, review of daily documentation, ensures house
cleanliness, maintenance standards are being met, hosts monthly
team meetings, and attends other meetings as needed
- Responsible for the onboarding, training, development, employee
engagement, and oversight of all direct support employees
- Completes employee monthly schedules adhering to the master
approved schedule, based on employee availability and training
while limiting overtime. Ensures all shifts are covered; this
includes scheduled or unscheduled emplo ee time off
- Demonstrates leadership through adherence to expectations as it
relates to completing daily documentation for services rendered
prior to leaving shift
- Provides employee coaching and counseling as it relates to
employee development
- Follows and maintains rules applicable to the residential
setting to support members being served
- Works as a team with other Supervisors to support housing
day-to-day needs and supports other caseloads due to supervisory
vacancy
- Attends training seminars, in-service sessions, and staff
meetings
- Participates in the on call rotation and adheres to the On-call
policy and procedure
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Competencies/Qualifications/Education:

- Have knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures
- Have working knowledge of privacy laws and regulations

communicate effectively with staff and provide instruction and
direction to employees on maintaining compliance with policies,
rules and procedures
- Proficient with G-Suite, Microsoft Office that includes Word,
Excel, Outlook and the ability to learn computer programs for
scheduling and timekeeping
- Ability to respond well under pressure
- Highly skilled in organization and time management skills
Certificates/Licenses/Registration:
The employee must provide and maintain a valid driver's license the
entire duration of their employment, and must be eligible for the
agencys vehicle insurance.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides supervision, training, and guidance to Direct Support
Professionals.
Work Hours:
Hours are varied depending on the needs of the organization. This
may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends, and
holidays. This position participates in an on-call rotation.
Work Environment:
The work environment is variable, anywhere from office setting to a
hospital/clinic to out in the community.

that must be met by an employee at all times to successfully
