Buyer's will control daily product purchases, inventory levels and supplier partnerships within a Category Team to meet company sales demand. This position negotiates product pricing and service criteria within their supplier base to meet company designated customer fill rates while maintaining inventory turn and service rate objectives. The Buyer is responsible for maintaining accurate cost information within the Imperial purchasing programs while investigating and resolving any variances. The Buyer will collaborate with their suppliers as well as their Category Team members to offer ideas and develop opportunities to improve company margin, product availability, supplier relationships, internal and external customer service and product effectiveness.

The Buyer will:

* Monitors daily stock levels and manages the automated Purchase Order system for 125+ designated suppliers, controlling an average of $15+ million in annual spend, to meet the customer fill rate objectives set for the Purchasing Department.
* Works closely with Sales and Marketing team members to provide timely delivery of pertinent material flow and supplier information. Accountable for highly effective collaboration and communication in support of customer projects, sales and marketing campaigns, expediting DC processes and other aspects of the supply chain flow
* Provides support for Marketing promotions within assigned Category Team. Buys to the forecasted requirements, or adjusts forecasts, to meet inventory turn responsibilities.
* Manages product demands within the parameters set for each product buy cycle. Determines and implements expedited delivery of purchase orders as needed, in the most cost-effective manner to meet the demand exception requirements.
* Makes recommendations to Category Manager on supplier product costing with designated supplier base for the most competitive product cost available. Builds a competitive supplier base with multiple supplier options for all Imperial branded and non-branded products, and for direct supplier links with manufacturer's branded products.
* Manages each master supplier price book and supplier system file. Sets up automated buy cycle criteria and product status for each supplier within their buying responsibility.
* Investigates new supplier opportunities, including global source suppliers and sends out Requests for Quotes on assigned product buying groups to ensure Imperial is obtaining the best product costing within our markets.
* Determines most appropriate data to issue product purchase orders within the weekly buy cycles (or when needed) to meet fulfillment objectives. Investigates, approves or adjusts (as necessary) supplier's invoices to be consistent with parameters set forth by the Finance Department. Follows up with suppliers regarding invoices contain repeated variances from the original Purchase Order Contracts.
* Visits key supplier locations and attends trade shows in collaboration with Category Manager and/or Product Manager to keep current on product offerings and supply within the maintenance aftermarket industry.
* Manages daily communication with suppliers, building strong supplier relationships and facilitating periodic calls with key suppliers to discuss business, future opportunities and resolving current issues.
* Works in tandem with the Product Management team to set up new suppliers including understanding supplier capabilities and negotiating order minimums, shipping requirements and freight terms.
* Collaborates with the Category Team Manager in selecting the primary suppliers within each product group that can provide optimal service and quality products at the least market total-cost available.
* Works with Purchasing Category Support Specialists and Quality Assurance team to monitor supplier operational performance and take appropriate action to improve future performance.

Requirements:

* Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience.
* 2 - 3 years of previous Purchasing, Operations or Supply Chain experience
* Bachelor's degree in Business preferred but not required
* 3+ years of previous Purchasing or Supply Chain experience preferred but not required
